A gentle guided walk to explore the stunning chalk grassland on Benfield Hill Local Nature Reserve.
Join us for a guided walk exploring the intricate ecology of chalk grassland. Chalk grassland is an incredibly diverse and globally scarce ecosystem; up to 50 different species can be found in a square metre. However, only 4% of chalk grassland remains on the South Downs.
Come and learn about the wonderful worlds of the wildflowers, insects, birds, and butterflies and how we can support them as gardeners and growers. The walk will be at a gentle pace and involve regular stopping and bending down. The ground is uneven in places underfoot. Please dress appropriately for the weather.
