Organic Gardening Promotion

Gardening organically is better for the environment, for wildlife and the planet. We spread this message via social media, in person at events, on our allotment and though our online organic garden course.

This year we have stayed close record levels – almost 500 members – In the next year if every member could just recruit one extra new member …how good would that be. Here’s how to join us.

Raise public awareness of organic issues

Especially this year, when we campaigned with other groups to try to limit the use of Glyphosate in Brighton and Hove.

As a membership group we carry more weight than those that are free. I hope you agree the membership fee represents good value for money (still the same price as when we were founded in 2000). Especially if you take advantage of our bulk compost offer (thank you Sue for organising) and free or low cost membership rates for events.

Garden Organically

We garden organically, in real life on our allotment, and online via our monthly organic gardening course.

Our online course has 160 sign-ups so far this year. Many thanks to Ruth for such an informative course.  It contributes greatly to our funds and expands our membership reach.

Thanks to Chris for all the time he devotes to our allotment, both on Sundays and at other times. There is a real friendly buzz to our Sunday sessions enjoyed by the very young and the not so old! The allotment not only shows people how to garden organically but also provides an escape from our busy lives and is good for our mental health.

Our Starter bed scheme is now being rolled out across other allotment sites.

Arrange regular meetings and events

We arranged a host of events over the last year – and a record number of events in the coming year. See our 2025 programme of events.

Network

Our events and allotment provide excellent opportunities for us to share our knowledge and learn from each other.

Inform

We inform via our website – where you can find lots of organic gardening resources.

Collaborate with other groups

We are pleased to collaborate with Whitehawk Community Food Project who host many of our events on their wonderful site, giving members who live towards the east side of town opportunities to attend events closer to their home. Thanks to Kerry for all her work there.
